Francis Raven
There are so many images in the world; even our images are made of images. What I want to show in these works is that images are built up as opposed to seen through. I begin with photographs then build up the final image from there. I use oil, transparencies of other images, pencil, pastel, marker, etc. but I don’t want the final product to have a third dimension (I want it to remain unified in on a plane) so then I scan the product and have it printed with a giclée printer.

Francis Raven is a graduate student in philosophy at Temple University.
