Song of Cherry Time? by Richard Luftig

Song of Cherry Time

Richard Luftig

Branches,
like fingers
beckon,
caress the pond.

Frost atop
once green
grass.
But look:

see how
blossoms,
so shy,
make their spring

appearance
free from winter
winds that once
held frozen court.

Stars blink
with quiet
surprise
at the village

below.
The world
glistens
in moonlight

as you and I
sing our sweet
melodies
in reply.
