WOMAN OF CAIRO and DEAR, DEADLY BELOVED Review

This month, Bookgasm gave the recent Stark House Press publication of John Rex Gearon’s (aka John Flagg) WOMAN OF CAIRO and DEAR, DEADLY BELOVED a very encouraging review. These Fawcett Gold Medal originals from the 1950s, back in print for the first time in decades, contain an introduction by the editor of Lowestoft Chronicle that traces Gearon’s career, the development of the Muldoon character, and examinations of how the author’s various occupations provided material for his fiction.

“Both novels are noticeably more hardboiled than other spy novels of the era, but remain as alluring and entertaining as they were when first published,” notes book critic Alan Cranis. “With luck, we might see more of both John Flagg and Hart Muldoon in the coming months.”
